Eric Lugtigheid

Eric Lugtigheid (b. 1959) is a Dutch artist. He studied at the Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU) and today works across disciplines: painting, sculpture, digital and graphic art. He combines a wide range of techniques and materials with a consistently abstract formal language.

As an artist and curator he founded FORM-COLOR-SPACE, a platform for abstract and minimalist art, and has curated numerous exhibitions featuring international artists.

Statement

Lugtigheid is a versatile artist working across spatial installation, painting, and digital media. His practice centers on abstraction, exploring how diverse techniques and materials can reveal new possibilities within a disciplined visual language.

A defining element in his work is the stadium: a long circle, a strongly rounded rectangle. Simple in appearance, yet endlessly generative. He uses this form as a foundation for endless manipulations and transformations, new compositions of color, geometry, and technique that evolve across analog and digital formats.

What drives his work is the relentless pursuit of new ideas. His visual language is distinctly his own: constantly evolving, yet unmistakably recognizable.
